COURSE : JM838 POWER ELECTRONICS

INSTRUCTIONAL DURATION : 15 WEEKS

CREDIT (S) : 2

PREREQUISITE(S) : NONE

SYNOPSIS

POWER ELECTRONIC course is aimed to equip students with the knowledge and skills related to power electronic devices and its application in power conversion. Student will be exposed to the operation of controlled rectifiers, choppers, ac controllers and inverters.

LEARNING OUTCOME

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:-

1. understand the characteristics and application of power
electronic semiconductor devices.

2. understand the principle of energy conversion using the power
electronics devices.

3. differentiate types of electronic switches used in industry.

4. perform calculations on output voltage, current and power
consumptions.
